The Senior Carer fulfils an important role, with autonomy, as a leading member of the caring team.  He/she is the leader of the team with most contact with the care staff; where complex tasks are undertaken, observing relationships and interactions between the Carer and the residents to meet their needs.  In view of this, the Senior Carer must keep the Home Manager and other senior personnel informed of any change/issues in the Home.

Senior Carer, when as Person in Charge, makes decisions in the management of the Home, all in line with good practice.

Care Assistants Full-Time/Part-Time

To be a supportive and important member of a caring team in the care environment and participate fully in the delivery of care with quality and standard.  The Carer must be able to give detailed care with reference to Keyworkers.  The Carer must ensure the correct level of care and assistance is delivered to each service user enabling them to maintain their dignity and independence at all times. To support and assist residents to live as normal a life as possible, recognising that assistance should only be given when necessary. To carry out the necessary housekeeping duties ensuring that the home remains clean and homely at all times, this includes the care of linen and service users personal laundry, making of beds and ensuring service users bedrooms are clean and tidy and to assist with any other housekeeping duty that may arise. To ensure all documentation relating to the service user’s care is updated and maintained to the highest of standards. And all other related care assistant duties as outlined in the job description.

i. Carry out all aspects of resident’s personal hygiene such as assisting in toileting (bedpans/urinals) and washing of residents.

ii. Undertake blanket bathing and bathing residents in the bathroom.

iii. Ensure that the resident’s dignity is maintained by sensible, prudent and skilful use of personalised clothing.

iv. Assist in the prevention and treatment of pressure sores.

v. Bed making – occupied and unoccupied.

vi. Assist with moving and handling of residents (two persons to assist when using a hoist).

vii. Observing residents physical condition; general comfort of residents sitting out in chairs and while in bed. Any changes must be reported to the Person in Charge.

viii. General supervision of residents during mealtimes; feeding and assisting residents with meals as necessary.

ix. Maintaining and recording fluid intake and output on residents as instructed by the Person in Charge.

Assisting the Person in Charge with admissions, receiving and recording of valuables and personal property
